About:

Kendo is a martial art that originated in Japan and is based on the ancient Japanese sword fighting techniques used by the Samurai.  The name Kendo literally means "Way of the Sword".  Today, Kendo is played as a sport using bamboo shinais in place of the Katana sword and using armour or bogu for protection.  Of all of the martial arts that are still practiced in modern times, Kendo is one of the oldest and most traditional.

The physical benefits of Kendo include improved strength, stamina and overall fitness.  The mental benefits of Kendo include stress relief, improved self discipline, concentration, mental clarity and calmness.

The Cambridge Kendo Club welcomes all new members regardless of age or fitness level.

Weekly practices are held on Saturday mornings at the Hourahine Martial Arts Centre, 20 Dickson St from 8 am - 10 am.  We also make several trips to other dojos to practice with many high ranking Canadian Sensei's throughout the month.
