Iaido at Cambridge Kendo Club

The Cambridge Kendo club is very fortunate to be supported by some very experienced Sensei's. Today Standfast Sensei, (4th Dan ) Iaido, paid us a visit and led a two hour practice in Iaido. Iaido is a sister Martial Art to Kendo but where Kendo is a full contact tournament sport played with a bamboo blade. Iaido is practiced with a metal blade, is not a contact sport, and focuses on the art of drawing a sword in such a manner it can be immediately deployed against an  Pictures of the event have been added to the Kendo club web page.

    Practicing Iaido is a wonderful compliment to playing Kendo.  Practicing Iaido helps me with my Kendo cuts, it also helps with the slow, intense movements for the Kendo Kata.  Iaido is, of course, fun to do for itself also.
